Affordable Dental is Available to the Uninsured
A few years ago, I decided to leave my regular job. I was excited to to learn what I could achieve if I had my own business. At the time I left my conventional employment, I went with COBRA for ongoing health insurance but I let go of my dental insurance. I really didn’t want to do that, but it felt like the right thing to do at the time.
In the meantime, COBRA has run out and I did get an individual health insurance policy with a local HMO. I am absolutely amazed at how the costs risen sharply and consistently over these years! I admit I didn’t really look around, but in all this time I had not become aware of any affordable dental plans, so have continued without coverage.
Then recently I became aware of DentalPlans.com. These guys offer “discount dental plans.” Discount? I wondered what that meant. Cynicism aside, I learned it means you can pay a membership fee of $80 or a little more, and obtain a pretty decent percentage off the cost of regular dental treatment. The percentage can be up to 60%. Wow.
I’m pretty sure there are other websites that can tell us about affordable dental plans, but this is the only one I’ve come across. I think I’m sold too. My dental needs over my lifetime have been very minimal. Seems like a pretty good idea to get regular dental care to make sure that trend continues. I’m actually quite impressed that so many dentists are inclined to go along with this type of plan, too. Proves that many really do want to make sure people get the services they need. I appreciate that.
