Home Remedies For Effective Psoriasis Relief

Friday, February 5th, 2010

When you want to reduce your pain and symptoms, using a home remedy for psoriasis can be both fast and safe.  Of course, you’ll always want to talk with your doctor about your psoriasis treatment options, but these home remedies can be used no matter what medication you are on.  These are not meant as a cure, but if you want to lessen the severity of your psoriasis you’ll want to eat a healthy diet, exercise and try to reduce stress.

A psoriasis diet is one of the key home remedies for psoriasis.  This doesn’t include counting calories and is not meant as a one size fits all diet.  Instead, realize that what you eat can affect your psoriasis and strive to eat a healthy diet.  A food diary can be useful in knowing which foods aggravate your condition.  Some foods are known to worsen psoriasis.  Reduce dairy and meat and increase vegetables.  Essential fatty acids are important and can be found in both fish and flax.  To make sure you are getting enough Omega 3 and 6, take a flax seed oil or fish oil supplement.

There are many items in your kitchen that can relieve your psoriasis symptoms when they are applied to the skin.  One of the most popular home remedy for psoriasis is apple cider vinegar.  Mix a cup of this with a gallon of water.  Soak a cloth in this mixture and put the cloth on the psoriasis patches.  You can also apply apple cider vinegar directly onto the scalp, leave it for a few hours, and then wash out.

A common cupboard item that can help is olive oil.  Massage warm olive oil on your scalp or add it to your bath water.  If you are out of olive oil, a cup of vegetable oil can be added to a bath in its place.

While doctors’ psoriasis treatment is important, adding a home remedy for psoriasis can make all the difference.  Research has shown that aloe can be applied straight onto psoriasis plaques to help clear them.  Use aloe straight from a plant or buy pure aloe vera gel from a store.

Baking soda is an effective and inexpensive home remedy for psoriasis that many sufferers use to relieve itching.  Simply mix 1 1/2 cups of baking soda in three gallons of water.  Soak a washcloth in the mixture and then apply that to your skin.

Eating right and using home made mixtures to help control the itching are important, but don’t forget to keep an eye on your stress level.  Stress can make psoriasis worse.  Incorporate exercise, yoga, or meditation into your everyday routine.

Eliyahu Goldratt’s groundbreaking business book The Goal, is available in movie form. The Goal Movie, a business lesson, disguised as drama, has been done very well with professional actors and production values. Originally a feature-length movie, this version, called the “How-to Version” has been distilled to the most important points (46 minutes) and features a very direct approach to “this is how you do it”.

Eliyahu Goldratt’s book The Goal, A Process of Ongoing Improvement is an entertaining, intriguing novel and at the same time, a thought provoking business book. The story is about a plant manager, Alex Rogo, whose plant and marriage are going downhill. He finds himself in the unenviable position of having ninety days in which to save his plant. An airport meeting with an old acquaintance, Jonah, introduces him to the Theory of Constraints (ToC). He uses this new way of thinking to discover a new purpose for his plant and for his people, find some tools to improve his performance, and in the end, save his business and everyone’s job.

Eliyahu Goldratt does an excellent job explaining his concepts, especially how to work with constraints and bottlenecks. You’ll find yourself empathizing with Alex Rogo, his family, and team. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself cheering for Alex to succeed.

If you’re wanting to introduce the concepts of the theory of constraints and drum buffer rope, this is a painless way to get the ball rolling. Featuring options for on-demand viewing or as part of your permanent training library, The Goal Movie is certain to be an important part of your change management strategy
