WHO are YOU teaching TO???

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

This is a question you should always ask yourself when you teach Zumba. You should also ask yourself when you put your playlist together “is this for ME or for MY CLASSES”? “Am I putting my playlist together for MY benefit or for the ENJOYMENT OF MY PARTICIPANTS.”? If you answered yes to any of these you got to keep in mind that it’s NOT ABOUT YOU…ITS ABOUT YOUR CLASS PARTICIPANTS.

When you teach Zumba fitness we have to remember the folks in the middle and back of the classes…those are folks we should be focused on because the ones in the first two rows GET IT….they don’t need the extra “love” we tend to give to beginners that stand in the back…or at least we should be giving!

We as instructors start off being simple, basic and fun. After a few months of teaching WE feel that we are not challenging enough or we are bored with our own stuff or we think our stuff is too simple now. So what do we do….we make are steps more complicated….very dancy….we figure the more complicated the more challenged and fun our participants will find our classes. f you’ve ever seen a Zumba dvd or my Zumba video(s) you see fun and easy is best.

That might be true to the minority of the folks who participates but for the MAJORITY I would say is not. UNLESS your class is labeled advanced…in some “Latin” type class and you know which one i am speaking of (wink)…there are no levels of it….it is aimed f or EVERYONE!! That is why it is LOVED by the masses…cuz everyone can do it and have fun!!!

Please don’t take this wrong i am not saying we shouldn’t challenge our classes just keep in mind and ask yourself is this REALLY for your class or for yourself. Keeping it simple yet fun is key and if you need to add a little “spice” that is what OPTIONS ARE FOR. Now EVERYONE is happy and can have a fantabulous workout at their LEVEL!

What is the best way to find a new job?

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

If want to find a job in a different region of the country. What is the best way to go about finding a high level COO, VP, or General Manager job when searching outside your region?

The job boards like Monster and others don’t seem to work well.

I think you should use a recruiting firm such as Robert Half. Professional staffing firms can do alot of the leg work for you so you don’t have to spend time looking through postings, filling out applications, and sending in cover letters and resumes. Most job postings online don’t give you any idea about the culture or the salary for the position. I’ve preferred this method of finding a job because I can ask the recruiter questions that I wouldn’t ask an interviewer until I had an offer.

Also, some companies don’t post open positions to the public and exclusively use staffing firms. These firms get paid up to 30% of your base salary once you get hired so they’re willing to put in the time looking for something that will appeal to you.

I know of the Internet web sites for job searching but how do you get in contact with recruiters in those areas? I live in the north east of the United States. My wife and I are considering relocating to the south west.

When you are looking for a job out side of your current area? You can find out about school districts and other beneficial information that would help in relocating? Searching Plus, I’ve experienced many companies want to higher people that are local.

Moving people across country at the company expense is a rare event today, unless you are at a VP or higher level. Some industries do more frequently, such as IT.

Within a couple months I am off to Hawaii for a joyous respite of sport in the sun. However living in a land-locked area of the continental United States, I am really much more accustomed to cloudy days, even while in the spring season.

I have many items to check off before I can feel truly prepared for my respite from the rigors of life, a few taks more prudent than some others. However the one I am writing about today affects my pasty white skin.

I do know that it is a myth how building a foundation tan can assist you to prevent burning, however that doesn’t stop me from feeling shy and inhibited about appearing so white and pale and tanless in an state where almost everyone is accustomed to dressing in little to nothing all the while playing in the sun.

So to help me feel more confident and care-free while on my precious and unusual vacation, I’ve looked into the best means to establish a normal appearing bronze before hitting the beautiful Hawaiian beaches.

One option will be sunless airbrush tanning. With this sunless tanning option, I can have a professional tanning salon meticulously apply and shade my tan to my spec.

I understand how many friends think I should try a commercial tanning bed instead of a sunless spray bronzer, however I’m not crazy about unnecessarily prolonging my UV ray exposure. The minimal amount of melanin in my skin may make me particularly susceptible to skin damage.

I am looking to reduce my self-consciousness so I may entirely decompress and savor my vacation, not commence a long-term campaign to acquire melanoma indications or white spots because of tanning.

It is my understanding that those white spots from tanning are more likely to occur with commercial tanning beds, either because of a fungus picked up in a less sanitary communal facility or because of lines or spots on my skin created from the pressure points of reposing in the bed.

So I have narrowed my airbrush tanning to a few well-established tanning salons. I might just snatch a suntanning cream to employ in the privateness of my home, but I do believe I’ll start with a salon sunless tan than uphold it with a sunless tanning lotion.

From my search, I’m assured I will avoid the unnatural look which people pigeonhole of sunless tanning, but I guess you never know for sure until you try. I’ll be sure to refine my sunless suntan long before I depart for vacation so I can refine the process and master my suntan to look my most attractive when I arrive there.
