Did you ever try to find a lost friend on the Internet?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Have you ever tried to find a lost friend on the Internet? I have it is not as easy as you might think. I had a good friend in junior high and I have fond memories of hanging out having fun with him. We would hang out listen to music talk just have a great time.

The other day I was thinking about my long-lost friend and I decided to try to find them on the Internet. It seems everyone nowadays uses the Internet so I figured it shouldn’t be difficult to locate him. I pulled up Google typed his name and get pages on pages of results. I checked out page after page but didn’t find any mention of my friend just a lot of people with similar names.

I decided try to narrow my search a bit by including the town and state where we grew up. Unfortunately they were still too many pages to look through for it to be practical to find my lost friend. I decided Google just gave to many results so I would try using a less popular search engine like MSN.

I typed in my friends name and the city and state where we grew up and sure enough I did get a lot fewer results. Instead of hundreds of pages there are only eight. I started looking through those pages of results and I found a couple which I thought would surely lead me to find my lost friend. However, after an hour of searching I still came up empty.

Then I decided to try Yahoo. Since Yahoo search has been around longer than Google or MSN I thought I might have better luck there. Again I entered my friends name the city and state and this time I got about 30 pages of results. I started the arduous task of looking through each and every page and clicking on link after link. Now I was getting frustrated I spent all this time and still cannot find my lost friend.

I pretty much gave up on finding my friend until a couple months later when I discovered reunion.com. I decided to give the site a try and I was amazed at how quickly I was able to turn up results for my lost friend. The service was not free but considering the amount of time I have wasted trying to search in the regular search engines it was definitely worth the small price.

I was able to find a phone number for my friend and I gave them a call. He was very happy to hear from me. In fact, he had been searching for me also. We have a long phone conversation and it turns out that he lived close enough that we could meet for lunch. Although it was more difficult to locate my lost friend than I had imagined it was great to find him and I’m glad I put in the effort.

Organized Shoe Storage: Effective Units

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Sophia is a working model and a student at the same time. She does some runway gigs and pictorials as coordinated by her modeling agency. She enjoys her part-time jobs because she is into fashion. She enjoys buying clothes, purses and especially shoes. She has bought various shoes since she was a teenager. And since she is still a student, her room is usually a mess.

She does not have the luxury to organize her space every day. After her modeling work she would typically leave her shoes behind the door. Her shoes can almost cover her room because they are a lot. Her mom always tells her to put her shoes back in the boxes and stack them up. But she forgets to do so because she finds it difficult to find a particular pair of shoes that she needs when she is modeling. So she chooses to leave her shoes on the floor because she can easily choose which one she wants to wear.

Her mother really longed to organize her daughters room so she went to ikea and tried to find the right shoe storage ideas for her daughter. She found a variety of cabinets that have spaces for shoes. The cabinets come in a variety of designs, prices and sizes. She chose the biggest one since she knew that her daughter has a number of shoes.

When she went back home, she put the shoes in each space. Sophia was happy when she returned home. Her room became spacious again and when she opens her cabinet she can see her shoes so looking for the right one is not hard to do. She even decided to arrange the shoes according to their design so that it will be easier. Since there is a hole for her each pair of shoes, she doesn’t have to worry about losing the other pair. She felt great with her new bench with shoe storage.

Why I Choose a Jogging Stroller

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

I was running on the treadmill at my local gym when a new mother hopped onto the treadmill next to me. Much to my surprise she was holding her baby. I asked her why she was carrying that new baby on a treadmill. She said she couldn’t bear to part with her little one, yet still wanted to get a workout in. After about ten minutes she was extremely tired and her baby was crying. Now what? Well within a few days I saw her again. This time she wasn’t at the gym. She was running outside the gym. She was jogging behind her nice, new jogging stroller. Mom was happier and her baby was happy too.

I have had several moms e-mail and ask “Is a jogging stroller right for me?” Well there are a few factors to consider.

First, if you prefer to run on the treadmill at the gym then you probably won’t need a jogging stroller. However, if you are like me and enjoy running outside and spending time with your baby then a jogging stroller is the best way to go.

When you choose to buy a jogging stroller don’t forget important safety features like a hand brake and wheel locks for easy stopping, safety belts and the five point harness. Your child’s safety should always come first. The five point harness is great for toddlers and small children.

Also consider your child’s comfort. You may want to look into a reclining seat and a canopy. It is also a good idea to wait until your child is holding his or her head up and sitting independently before using the jogging stroller. However, there are safety products you can buy if you would like to use your jogging stroller sooner.

When we’re running in cool or cold weather, we may be hot or comfortable in minimal clothing, but a child is not doing the exercise. Don’t forget to dress your little one in warm clothes, especially if you’re running or walking in the wind. Short runs are best with your child. Competing while pushing your running stroller is not recommended.

I prefer a jogging stroller versus a regular stroller because I enjoy being outside. I have found that my jogging stroller makes it a lot easier to push on non-paved roads and it moves at a faster pace

Flat Fee MLS: Lost Lead Generator

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

My last post about BPO’s and all the hype about winning the opportunity to complete an $80 transaction…got me thinking!

When and why did utilizing Flat Fee MLS listings as an additional lead generator get such a bad rap?

Think about it…you earn $249.00 on up and with most systems being completely automated the work involved should take less than 30 minutes. You also gain direct access to a live one (seller) that most likely will get frustrated and need agent representation…and you’re first in line. Now that’s a lead generator! More Money…Real Sellers…Frontline Positioning.

I know, I know you may get picked on by fellow industry professionals…but why? Why is there an overall feeling that you have “sold out” if you take on a limited service listing or flat fee listing? It’s O.K. to solicit FSBO listing and turn them over, it’s O.K. to hound distressed NOD owners for a listing and it’s surely O.K. to sit on your computer waiting for a BPO order. What’s the difference? Maybe jealousy, jealousy if you were willing to break out of the gossip mold.

Besides, I’ve already been sold out by my own MLS system that offers a consumer website with the exact same information on it, taking away a little of my edge. But that’s a whole different blog.

Every state has a different outlook on what constitutes as a “limited service” and whether or not they allow for a Flat Fee MLS Services. Before you enter into this arena make sure you know what the minimum services are required of you.

Limited Service - Flat Fee MLS State Guidelines

Also, it is extremely simple to register for these types of leads.  Search for companies like For Sale By Owner, The Homeowner Center, Owners.com and so forth.

I don’t fault homeowners for trying to figure it out on their own…a little gumption is admiring. But I will be there to pick up the pieces, and why not?

Learning to Play Guitar - Can You Handle It?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

One of the most beautiful instruments is the guitar. There is no doubt that it is attractive to many. It doesn’t matter what type of music may be playing, usually the guitar is one of the critical instruments.

In many bands, lead singers are able to play the guitar. You are not the only one who wants to learn how to play. There have been millions who have tried to learn to play and no doubt many more are going to want to learn as well.

There are a few things that will be required from you if you really are interested in learning to play guitar. If you are not able to deal with the next facts, then don’t even try to learn to play. It will be a waste of your money as well as your time.

Learning to play guitar is not as easy as you think. There is no magic way that you can quickly learn. You won’t suddenly be able to play like Carlos Santana in a week.

Sure, those guys on TV playing their 3 minute songs make it look easy. Too bad you’ll never see the video tape of the thousands of practice hours they put into learning the guitar before they got to that point.

Learning to play guitar will take time - This is related to the above statement. You can’t expect to pick up a guitar and have it mastered within a week. You have to put work into it. You have to practice. You have to learn how to tune your guitar, learn simple chords, you’ll then learn how to play simple songs and progress from there.

Learning to play guitar will take patience - You will make mistakes. There will be days when you will want to literally smash your guitar against the wall out of sheer frustration.

If you are someone who quits when things don’t go your way, then learning to play guitar is not going to be a good option for you. What would happen if some of the best guitar players would have quit when they found learning to play difficult? Today they would not be the big stars that they are.

If you have realistic expectations of the difficulty learning to play guitar entails, the commitment to put in the time, and the patience to work through any trouble you may encounter while learning; then you probably are ready to learn to play the guitar. How you decide to learn to play guitar will be up to you.

Learning to play guitar quickly and easily can be accomplished by using online guitar courses. Most of these types of sites offer everything that you will need in one convenient place to learn how to play the guitar.

You’ll probably have to pay to have access to the best sites for learning guitar. Of course this cost is not that much when you think about how much you would end up paying for guitar lessons. Online learning also lets you learn from home and you can do your lessons when you have the time.
