Dams Maestro range of desking and office furniture

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

The Maestro series of office furniture manufactured by Dams International is probably the most popular ranges of business furniture ever manufactured. This popularity is based upon a winning formula of Maestro offering great value, Maestro products are very dureable and functional, and Maestro offers a large range of modular furniture products. Maestro is an excellent product range for both budget conscious businesses or the home office furniture buyer.

Maestro desks come in just three basic shapes (rectangular, wave and ergonomic L shaped desks) each in a choice of sizes and a straight choice of leg designs between wooden panel end and a grey powder coated metal cantilever design. In past years Maestro desking has been manufactured in many different melamine faced woodgrain effect finishes. Recently the range has been rationalised down to either beech or oak woodgrain finish, though cherry and light grey Maestro products have only recently been discontinued and in some cases residual stocks may still be available.

If there is a possible shortcoming of Maestro office furniture, it is that it is constructed from 18mm MFC woodgrain effect chipboard which could be deemed to be slightly too inexpensive for some customers requirements, though it’s lasting strength and durability should not be doubted despite its budget appearance. The commercial office furniture market has swung firmly in favour of 25mm furniture products over the last few years which generally looks much more expensive. A middle ground upgrade path from Maestro is the Maestro 25 furniture range (also known as M25 range).

Maestro 25 desking is generally around 10% or 15% dearer than Maestro desking, but they appear a much better quality and give a better impression. Both ranges can be fitted in the same office and will not stick out like a sore thumb. The main thing to note is that M25 desks only come in standard metric sizes (800mm deep and metric widths like 1200mm, 1400mm, 1600mm etc.) whereas Maestro desking comes in unusual depths and widths (746mm deep and widths like 1228mm, 1532mm, 1778mm etc.) This size issue is only a problem if you try to fit a Maestro 25 desk adjacent to a cluster of 18mm Maestro desks.
