Varicose veins are veins that have been changed and may have blood pools in them. These are sometimes visible below our skin because a lot of veins that are altered by varicosity are superficial ones close to the top of our skin. Many women would like to undergo a process to take out varicose veins for the sheer cosmetic purpose of it. The sight of the twisted blue grey or greenish purple veins is not a nice one.
Not only are these varicose veins not attractive to look at but they are also painful when they are older and numerous. This is one of the main reasons why many others would like to remove varicose veins. The discomfort can turn into hurt the more you have varicose veins and this sort of pain is enough to put you off walking or standing.
Surgical Procedures
To remove varicose veins, you will have to undergo laser treatment for spider vein which can be expensive but very relieving. There are numerous procedures to take out varicose veins and all have their pros and cons. Many of the procedures to remove varicose veins are used for smaller veins and spider vines but there are also some procedures to treat and fix the bigger veins.
Sclerotherapy, microsclerotherapy and laser surgery are commonly used for spider vein treatment, which are smaller. For the first two, a chemical substance is injected directly into the problematic veins and the chemical causes the veins to scar and close off the vein itself. Several injections may be needed to properly shut off a certain vein and you will be required to wear compression stockings or garments to reduce the swelling and appearance of varicosity. Laser surgery is non invasive and uses the brilliant beam of light to remove varicose veins.
More invasive surgical procedures to remove varicose veins include endoscopic vein surgery, vein stripping and ligation, ambulatory phlebectomy and endovenous ablation therapy. In a lot of the procedures above to remove varicose veins, there is a tiny incision made to insert something that helps in suturing or closing off the offensive vein. It is only the vein stripping and ligation which will require you to be asleep while they fix this and it is usually reserved for the more difficult cases.
Recovering from a lot of the procedures to take out varicose veins can be as little as several hours to several days especially for the vein stripping and ligation procedure. The other procedures only need anesthesia to numb the area and a few hours for it to wear off before you can leave the clinic.
