Should You Buy Iron Man DVD?

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

The Iron Man movie burst on to the movie screen in 2008 with avengeance. When a movie earns over $300 million you have to stand up and take notice.

For both comic book fans and others who wouldn’t go near the, the Iron Man Blue Ray manages to strike the right cord with watchers. Robert Downey Jr plays the part of Tony Stark, a multi-billionaire genius and self-proclaimed playboy that puts as much effect into the ladies as he does chasing his next big idea. However while traveling overseas Tony Stark quick jumps into chaos as he finds himself at the mercy of a power hungry warlord.

The positive reviews by today’s critics are impossible to miss. The gadgetry is absolutely dazzling, the action is mostly exhilarating, the comedy is scintillating and the enormous enterprise throbs with cinematic energy. Iron Man Blu-ray is an action sci-fi blockbuster extravaganza that provides cartoon thrills for smart people. It’s the best movie of its kind since the second Spidy movie four years ago.

However not everything in this movie is positive, as critics have pointed out a few problems with Iron Man. Toggling between Tony’s impish goatee and Iron Man’s full-metal body suit, and amid so many generic fireballs, kill shots and earsplitting thumps, bumps and crunches, the film finally collapses under its own weight. Downey’s unbeatable style makes these problems less troublesome than they would be otherwise, but wouldn’t it be nice if they didn’t exist at all.

The value of the Iron Man Blue Ray is hard to pass up. The package includes deleted and extended scenes, a 7 part making of documentary, another 6 part “invincible iron man” documentary, visual effects and a Bob Downey screen test. The Blu-ray version contains special exclusives as well in a featurette entitled, Hall of Armor, IM IQ and more.

Director Jon Favreau and star Robert Downey make this smart, high impact superhero movie one that even non-comics fans can enjoy. At the end of the day it’s Robert Downey Jr. who powers the lift-off separating this from most other superhero movies.

How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Pests are usually unwelcome guests.  The bed bug (cimex lectularius) is one common trespasser that can be quite a nuisance.

Bed bugs hide during the day.  Places where they like to hide include bed frames, mattresses, box springs, cracks and crevices in walls and floors.

During the night, bed bugs feed on human blood.  They leave traces of saliva on their victims after each feeding.  Repeated bites may cause some people to develop an allergic reaction and require medical attention.

With a bit of planning and work, bed bug infestations can be eliminated.

Before taking any action, the pest must be identified by capturing a live specimen and comparing them with pictures to make sure they are bed bugs.

Bed bugs when viewed from above are oval in shape and have a flat profile.  They become dark brown at their tips after gorging on their victims.  Adults grow to 1/4 inch long.  They can live for months without a meal.

If the bed bug problem is extensive, hiring a license pest control exterminator may be the best solution.  However, that is an alternative that could cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

If the bed bug infestation isn’t as extensive, then various over the counter insecticides can be purchased by anyone for general home use.  For example, Steri-Fab, Kleen Free Naturally Bedbug Spray and Pronto Kill Bedbugs and Dust Mites Spray are easy to buy online.  These do-it-yourself solutions are inexpensive when compared to hiring a professional.

Bed bugs don’t spread diseases, but they do have the potential of causing their human victims to develop allergic reactions from repeated bites.  A professional exterminator can help get rid of bed bugs if they have taken over the bedroom.  If cost is an issue, but time isn’t, then retail versions of insecticides can be used by the average person to get rid of bed bugs.

Our Halloween Tradition

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Halloween is coming up real quick, are you all ready? Getting all dressed up, enjoying lots of goodies and getting scared, what’s not to love. My family is going all out this year in getting dressed up and decorating our home.

What was your favorite costume as a kid? My favorites were the ones that I madewith a little help from mom. I think Crest was my best one. My mom fashioned a white pull-over robe that we painted the Crest logo on and I wore a lamp-shade as the top. I will always remember that one. Another great one was a scalper. I had a long black trench coat along with eight watches up my left arm and had a bunch of costume jewelry in my coat on my left side and a bunch of tickets on my right side.

Have you picked out a costume for your kid? I made a little pricess outfit for my dauther. No time to make one. We found some great deals for costumes at Costume Supercenter, Kmart, Sears and KB Toys. There is plenty of time to place your order and most offer free shipping.

The Halloween party this time isn’t just for the youngsters. We are going entertain the adults as well. We are throwing a party this year so that all of the adults can hang out while the kids trick-or-treat through the neighborhood. The party will be fully stocked thanks to some coupons from David’s Cookies. We are going to order some treats for the party.

The place is going to look amazing. We are also going all out in decorating our house. Found some great deals with Wrapables Coupons. We are going to have the house lit with black lights in all of our lamps and orange and black streamers throughout the house. We will also have Poltergiest on the TV all night and Oingo Boingo’s Dead Mans Party on a continuous loop.

And of course there will be a lot of Jack-O-Lanterns all around the place. We will be having all of the kids come over early in the afternoon to get started on the carving.
